Review for Marvel's Midnight Suns Enhanced Edition - PlayStation 5
Introduction
Marvel's Midnight Suns Enhanced Edition for the PlayStation 5 is a tactical RPG that brings together popular Marvel superheroes in a card-based combat system. This review aims to provide a comprehensive look at the game's features, performance, and overall experience to help potential buyers make an informed decision.
Hands-On Experience
I thoroughly enjoyed this game. Fun storytelling, great cast of characters, and world-class card-based combat. 10 out of 10, must play.
If you enjoy tactical games or the Marvel universe, I highly recommend this game. The story felt like a movie at times and deserves more credit. The developers clearly know their comic book lore.
I've had great fun with Midnight Suns; it has a good choice of heroes, some you might expect but also some other unexpected, but cool ones, at least for me. The gameplay is good, aside from some DS games, this is my first time playing a card/strategy game, so I think it is an appropriate introductory game. It is a 4-star product because I believe it lacks some polishing in some places. Sometimes textures take too much time to load properly, face models, especially the protagonist, could use some work, and finally, when using fast travel, the characters are floating and drop to the ground because of gravity. In conclusion, I had lots of fun for at least 20 hours, but it is not the prettiest game out there. For this price, I can't recommend it enough.
Very surprising on how fun this game is—countless hours filled with Pokémon type of vibes. Definitely buy it; highly recommended.
Item arrived safely and complete. Thank you! Excited to play it.
I originally borrowed a copy of this game from my local library, thinking I wouldn't like it because of the card-based battle system, but I was wrong. It's not a typical deck builder and somehow manages to feel like a superhero game despite being turn-based. Strategy in this game goes beyond the abilities the player brings into battle, as the environment also plays a large role in gameplay. It takes a little time to master the battle system, but I found it a lot of fun once I did. There is also a lot of depth to the story and characters that leads to the feeling you are actually building a relationship with each hero you meet throughout. Being able to customize your in-game room with photos you can take yourself and hang is a nice bonus touch, especially as you always begin and end the day in that space. I feel the game is definitely worth playing as it is a lot of fun.
Here's a mini-review I posted to social media: Firaxis Games combined three very different game genres to make Midnight Suns. Foremost is the card/strategy combat that provides for a good amount of variety, tactics, and playing different heroes' skills off each other. Between each main or side combat mission (you do one each in-game day, and side missions are mostly random), you hang out with other heroes. (By the way, you're "The Hunter," a hero you create for yourself at the start.) Hanging out means one-on-one events with a Persona-style friendship system, gift-giving, short chats, group/club events, and more. That's also when you upgrade the base and improve each hero's deck. Lastly, there's a big exploration aspect with collectibles and quests, but I completed it all in Act 1. Not perfect, but addictive and fun. Loved it.
Just not for me. I watched the cut scenes and the story seemed great. However, the gameplay is not enjoyable for me.
I didn't expect much but ended up being surprised. Good gameplay, the characters are charismatic, and you grow attached to them. Graphically, it's a bit lacking, but otherwise, it is a very good game.
Phew... The makers didn't spend much time on the combat scenes... I find it nicer when you can press button combinations like X, Triangle, etc. Here, however, much value is placed on card combat scenes, which makes everything take longer... One fight lasted 4 hours for me... Others go faster.... You can start over often. I often thought how is it possible to win in such short moves, but if you stick with it, you can actually make it... I am very frustrated about it...Aside from that, it is nice to get some more Marvel content, and the cutscenes are nice in between. You need nerves of steel for this, if you don't have them, you can leave this game... Some characters do not do their real-life counterparts justice, for example, Iron Man Tony is unfortunately not very well done... and I think Peter could have been improved as well. Dear designers and game creators, please take more time! Especially with Marvel, that would be nice. I am curious how long it will take me. So far, I can only play the game for 4 hours at a time because it is very exhausting due to the card battles.
Buying from this seller is highly recommended; it arrived well and on time.
Excellent, I recommend it.
Pros: The turn-based combat system is very original, as if Slay the Spire and Into the Breach had a child. Easy to understand but difficult to master, after a short time, you give orders with heroic confidence.
Cons: Many! The friend simulator is terrible because the dialogues and story are awful, so you never really care about the heroes. The designs are horrible; they remind me of The Avengers (the game) if Todd Macfarlane had a hand in it. It's an interesting and different game with many ideas, many poorly executed and clashing with each other. If you like strategy games, metal bands, and Marvel, you will surely enjoy it.
